Recap

The Krakens and the Demogorgons tangled in the late game. Both teams went into the game tied in the standings at 1 win and 1 loss each.

Pre-game ceremonies consisted of players skating and shooting on goalies to warm them up. It was beautiful. “I’m not crying,” sobbed Gorgons enforcer Adam Winemiller. “You’re crying!”

With so much on the line, neither team wanted to take any chances as they spent the first half of the period feeling each other out. Over 6 minutes into the game, we got our first goal as James Neely put the Gorgons up 1-0. “I’m so excited! I can’t wait to get back to the bench so I can tell my Tamagotchi!” exclaimed Neely.

The remainder of the period was much like the start. A lot of tentative action with little to no actual action. Finally, with less than a minute remaining, Winemiller put the Gorgons up 2-0. No one remembers what happened on the goal. It was largely forgettable. Like Winemiller.

With the period ending 2-0, there was some murmuring around whether Gorgons goalie Felipe Rodriguez was going to make another attempt at a 2/3 shut-out. “It may only be 2/3 of a game, but we’re skating with 3/4 the players. Add the numerators, carry the one, square the cosine… You do the math. It equals out.” Rodriguez said defiantly.

The second period started with 2 quick goals by Neely as Marley Ros was feeding him all night long. “I’ll have what he’s having!” laughed Krakens captain Nicholas McMahon.

With the Krakens knocking at the door, Chris Jimenez finally broke through and killed the shutout bid less than 5 minutes into the period. Wayne Garrick was only concerned about his assist.

There was little drama remaining in the game as Neely netted his fourth of the game minutes later and Winemiller and David Hastings traded goals. The Demogorgons would skate away with the 6-2 victory.

When asked what happened, Garrick’s only response was that the ref didn’t get out of the way on one faceoff. That was the difference maker. Down by 4 with 3 minutes left in the game. Oh, to have a Canadian mind.

Lost in the shuffle was the lack of Chad timeouts. Chad made the entire game without a single equipment malfunction. That has to at least be a moral victory for the Krakens.

Stars of the Game

1st Star
Neely, James
Paired with Marley Ros, these two terrorized the Krakens with Neely netting 4 goals on the night.
2nd Star
Ros, Marley
Assisted on all 4 of Neely’s goals, and some of those passes were just fun to watch.
3rd Star
Jimenez, Chris
Picked up a goal and an assist . Could have had more if not for the hot play of Felipe Rodriguez in the opposing net.
