10/26/2019 – Start of Fall Season

Season #3 is ready to get underway with 4 new teams looking to battle it out for 6 weeks plus playoffs.  Exciting stuff!

Rule Changes

  • Gameplay has reverted back to 4v4
  • Game time has changed to two 20-minute halves.
  • Games will start on time. If teams are not ready, clock will run until teams are set.
  • Between period breaks are limited to 2 minutes. Timeouts are limited to 1 minute.
  • Goalie timeouts are no longer available (unless equipment malfunction)
  • Concurrent penalties can drop a team to 2 skaters, but no fewer.
  • In the event of a tie at the end of regulation, play will resume as 3v3 for 5 minutes. Penalties will bring teams to 2 skaters; however, a second concurrent penalty will add a skater to the opposing team rather than drop to 1 skater.  If no goals are scored before penalties lapse, play will continue at 4v4 until the next whistle. Game will resume at 3v3 at that point.
  • Penalties in overtime are 1 minute in length. If a penalty carries over from the 3rd period, the time to serve in overtime is either the remaining time or 1 minute, whichever is shorter.
  • If there is no winner at the end of overtime, we will go to a quick shootout.
    • Shootout is 3 rounds then single rounds if no winner is declared
    • Bench to the left of the scorekeeper shoots first
    • Skater can not touch the puck until the ref is in position at the goal line and blows the whistle.  First infraction for the team will result in a redo.  Second infraction for the team forfeits that shot.
    • No skater can take a sescond penalty shot until all skaters from his team have taken a shot.  Same goes for third or fourth shots if it ever gets that far.
    • In the theme of keeping things rolling, shootout must begin as quickly as possible.  At the end of overtime, every skater must leave the rink and the first shooter needs to get to center as quickly as possible.  We will allow a 1-minute break to get shootout lineups in order.

Please look over the rule changes.  Our standard rules otherwise have not changed.  If you are unsure of anything, please reach out and let us know or ask before your game.

Wih all of the boring stuff out of the way, let’s introduce the teams.

Aliens

Color – Green
Captain – Nicholas McMahon
Skaters – Gary Burdge, Corey Calandra, Peter Guevara, Phil Heichel, Colin Lang, Augustus Vargas, Robert Rivera / John Smith
Goalie – Taylor Newton

The Aliens have all the makings of an offensive powerhouse – either on the scoreboard or trash talk. Goalie Taylor Newton’s stock soared after last season, and the Aliens are betting the farm on a repeat season.

Body Snatchers

Color – White
Captain – Andrew Minerd
Skaters – Greg Artzberger, Brian Gray, Justin Griffin, James Nealy, Marc Redinger, Robert Robles, Justin Tran
Goalie – Chad Miller

The Body Snatchers have a good balance of offense and defense and look to be an early contender.  With this team in front of him, goalie Chad Miller may actually show up (not just physically).

Ghoulies

Color – Yellow or Blue (Gametime decision)
Captain – Mike Mallery
Skaters – Evan Cumpston, David Foss, Corey Huffman, Chris Jimenez, James Kopalchick, Brad Repka, Dan Ryan
Goalie – Anthony Smith

Captain Mallery is going for the three-peat with a balanced team.  To get there, goalie Anthony Smith has to shake off last season and get back to his first season game.

Stay-Pufts

Color – Red
Captain – David Lopez
Skaters – DBran Hastings, Jacob Hernandez, Dane Ortiz, Chris Read, Tyler Straub, Brian van Vlymen, Dakota Apperson / Marley Ros
Goalie – Felipe Rodriguez

Captain Lopez came to the draft with a plan, and it’s looking good.  A solid team that looks capable of giving goalie Felipe Rodriguez a night off once or twice this season.
