Back to the Grind…

The season is winding down as we come up to the last two weeks.  The River Walkers are hoping to see the Fair Childs continue to falter in hopes of snagging that top seed heading into the playoffs.  The Alamo Domes, on the other hand, are guaranteed two games on playoffs night.

Captain Penn of the Fair Childs continues to tear up the scoreboard in the league scoring race.  Considering he has been in charge of getting the “official” scores to us, we have to assume he’s adding and altering a few points here and there.  With the score sheets being kept digitally these past couple of weeks, every number easily becomes a 15.  When asked about this, Penn said, “Listen.  You can’t prove anything.  I mean, so what if I take a point or two from (David) Lopez.  He’s not using them.  And no, that’s not an admission of guilt.  I’m just hypothesizing.  I need another cookie.”  That ended the interview no one was having with Penn.

As for the goalies of the league, Felipe “Danger Zone” Rodriguez of the Fair Childs continues to shine.  His numbers are more reflective of a top-notch defensive team in front of him, but he has no problem hogging the glory for himself.   “The scoresheet says ‘shots’.  That’s on net, wide of the net, blocked shots, in the vicinity of the net; they are all shots and they count towards my stats.  Clearly, I’m the glue holding this team together.”  After this brief interview, Rodriguez showed us all his favorite Roman Cechmanek card.  We’re not sure why.

Looking at the upcoming weeks, we have the Fair Childs with the double header this week and the River Walkers rounding out the season with their own double header.  If the Fair Childs can field a full team, look for them to coast right through to the finals.  If not, the River Walkers could easily upset them and steal that top spot.
