02/23/2020 – Week 5 Preview
Two weeks straight with all four games being decided by a single goal. Which team is going to be the dick team this week and completley dominate its opponent?

Game 1 pits a scrappy R2D2 team against the barely undefeated Bounty Hunters. Outside of week 1, the Hunters haven’t won a game by more than 1. This is either a great strategy or their luck will eventually run out. Meanwhile, the R2s are an up and down team, trading wins and losses every other week. Good news, though, they are scheduled to win this week.
The R2s gave the winless Jar Jars their first win of the season last week as Gary Burdge collapsed under the pressure of carrying this team. Or was it just a Chad kind of night? Either way, R2s goale Chad Miller needs to be on his game if the R2s hope to put a dent in the ego of the Hunters.
The Bounty Hunters are skating on thin ice. (See what we did there?) They’re playing with fire, and it’s eventually going to catch up to them. All it takes is one bad bounce, and this team will be like every other team: losers. They’re already losers, but at least it’ll show up in the standings.

We called it last week – the Jar Jars came out on top and look to ride the wave of momentum towards win #2. The Tusken Raiders, on the other hand, are having an identity crisis as they struggle to get guys to show up.
The Raiders are a solid team on paper and should be sitting up top with the Hunters, but an issue with attendance has been the downfall of this team. This week will be no different, so we’re not sure what Raiders team is actually going to show up.
The Jar Jars look to build on that forward momentum as their “upgrade” in net is performing similarly to their full-time goalie. Their defence has certainly perked up, though, with the return of team captain, David Penn. With Penn quarterbacking this team, they could be looking at leaping out of the basement of the standings for the first time all season.

Week 2 Preview
Week 2 is upon us, and with it, the Stray Cats’ first doubleheader of the season. The Cats will have their endurance tested as they host both the Tarantulas and River Sharks. We’ll get a good idea of who’s ready to set the pace for the season and who might be in for a rude awakening.
Game 1: Tarantulas vs. Stray Cats
Two undefeated teams go head-to-head to kick off the night, and one of them is leaving with their first loss. After a strong win last week, the Tarantulas will look to keep their offense rolling. Captain Penn’s leadership is in question, as whispers in the locker room claim he can’t even pronounce “tarantula” without a stutter—expect the opposing Stray Cats to exploit that mental weakness at every opportunity. Collin Iacarella will aim to keep his hot streak alive, and we’ll see if Kaleb Morley can keep up his scoring pace, or if last week was just a flash in the pan.
The Stray Cats come into this game riding high after their win over the Sharks. Captain Andrew Minerd and his team will need to dig deep to take down the Tarantulas before facing another battle later in the evening. They’ll be leaning on the unstoppable force that is Micah Deary, who is said to be fueled by pure disdain for referees and lactose. Goalie Taylor Newton will be looking to shake off his new “20-second drop” technique and prove he’s got what it takes to keep his team on top.
Special Note: Keep an eye on Rick Odom—every time Penn scores, Odom’s grin widens. By the third goal, he may just levitate.
Game 2: River Sharks vs. Stray Cats
After their earlier matchup, the Stray Cats get to dust themselves off and jump right back into the fray against the River Sharks, who are hungry for a win after dropping both games last week. This will be a test of stamina, skill, and just how much trash talk one team can dish out in two games.
Captain Jaiden Hernandez and his Sharks will be looking to make up for their slow start to the season, and rumor has it he’s threatened to confiscate all post-game beverages if the team doesn’t deliver. Felipe Rodriguez will be in net again, ready to pull off some acrobatic saves—and maybe a few dance moves—to keep his team in the game. Junior, after lighting it up last week, has been whispering to teammates about a new goal celebration that involves a kazoo. Stay tuned.
Meanwhile, the Stray Cats will need to find some fuel for the second leg of their doubleheader. Andrew Minerd may need to dig deep into his book of motivational speeches, though most of them just involve shouting “Do it for the trophy!” with a voice crack. Expect Mallery to keep bringing his offensive A-game, and don’t be surprised if DeGroff rolls up in a new set of gear borrowed entirely from other players for the second game.
All in all, Week 2 is shaping up to be a wild one, and by the end of it, we’ll have a much clearer picture of who’s going to make their mark early in the season. Strap in and grab your tree trading cards—this week’s gonna be fun.
