Iguanas In Action
The San Antonio Iguanas roller hockey team has been competing since 2015 across the state of Texas. In 2020, the Iguanas saw Player-Owner-Coach Penn take over control of the organization with assistance from the SARHL Director of Hockey Operations, Gary Burdge. The two have started to re-vamp the Iguana program by obtaining new jerseys, hosting weekly practice sessions and bringing multiple teams to compete in the different skill levels of the tournaments. Prior to his Iguana roles, Coach Penn was the head coach for 5 years of the Tampa Thunder youth hockey program that had six teams from 8u to 18u that played out of the Tampa area. The biggest moment for the post Covid version of the Iguanas saw the team make the 14 hour trip to St. Louis, Missouri where the team competed in the State Wars Men’s Nationals.
