Week 1 is in the books, and for the first time ever, every team came out of the first week with at least 1 point in the standings. Isn’t that something?
The Alamo Domes took the first swing at the double header last week and saw their sterling perfect record of 0-0-0 take a hit in the first game with a loss to the Fair Childs… Children? Childrens? Chiiiiilds? Chil’ens? Childs. Had it right the first time. Fair Childs. (Who came up with that one?)
Game two saw the Domes and the River Walkers battle to a tie in quite the average affair. Nothing exciting, but nothing to put you to sleep either. If not for the banter of the officials, no one would have had any idea a game was taking place. The Domes topped the Walkers in the shoot-out 2-1.
Week 2 has the FCs trying their hand at the double-header. The Walkers get first crack at the FCs and they hope the hot hand of Jimmy Durham continues as he netted all 5 of the RWs goals last week. At least the FCs know who to cover now.
The Domes get the first shot at redemption in the late game. Last week started out great for the Domes as the FCs couldn’t solve Domes’ netminder Ricky Dominguez. Self-appointed alternate captain of the FCs, Mike Mallery, took himself out of the game and the the FCs started to click. Clearly, the Domes are hoping Mallery plays the whole game this time.
